Wateringse Veld was developed in the late 1990s and early 2000s as part of The Hague's westward expansion. The district has a quiet, green character with a clear traffic structure: residential streets with 30 km/h zones and side streets with little through traffic, alternating with collector roads towards the ring road.

The Erasmusweg is the main connecting road from Wateringse Veld towards The Hague city centre.
